INTRODUCTION OF THE CATTERY

Animals are most impressive for every kid.

Unfortunately we, my parents and I, could not have pets because of the size of our home and our jobs. This is the reason why I loved visiting both my grandfathers. One had a watch dog and the other one helped out at a neighbor’s farm, where he took me frequently. This was paradise for me: driving the tractor - riding the horses - feeding the little calves and piglets and… playing with the cats in the hay. Wherever I saw a cat I wanted to take it home with me.

In 1998 I finally had the chance to get a cat and a friend of mine who was a Thai cat breeder had kittens. This is how in 1999 my cat Jamina, a blue point, finally came home with me. My excitement about this breed was so great that I mated Jamina twice under my friend’s Cattery “von den Summercats”.

Even though the Thai follows the typical cat behavior - what she does not want to do she will not do - I love her softness, the typical attachment to ‘her’ people, the wonderful blue eyes, which make her something truly special.

In winter 2015 a new female cat moved in with us. During a long discussion with the breeder Ms. Carola Hopfe, I was asked, if I were interested in becoming a breeder in order to help protect this rare breed. As a consequence I am now registered since November 2016 with my own Cattery in a FIFe recognized cat club.
